Part 1: What do you do all day

🌟 Welcome to Susan’s Big Thinks Blog! 🌟

So… what the heck do I do all day?

Well, this isn’t exactly my area of expertise (writing a blog, that is), but I’ve had a few curious folks ask what my day-to-day looks like as a small business owner who makes creative gifts and what nots. So, I figured it’s time to start sharing—if you're into that sort of thing.

This post kicks off a little series I’m calling Susan’s Big Thinks, where I’ll pull back the curtain on life in my quirky little corner of the world. Let's dive into this first Big Think, shall we?

🐾 A Day in the Life (More or Less)

People ask me how much time I spend in my “shop,” and what my day looks like. Honestly? I usually just get up and figure it out as I go.

Every day starts at the crack of dawn, thanks to my brain yelling “Wake up!” Or, let’s be real—it's my bladder. I shuffle out of bed, caffeinate, grab a bite, and do some serious pre-dawn lounging with my cats.

Meet the furry monsters: Milo, Spice, and Margaret—left to right. You’ll hear more about them, I promise.

Once the coffee kicks in and the cats stop demanding everything under the sun, I ease into work mode. That usually means checking messages and orders, and sneaking in a quick scroll through Pinterest. (Is it research or just creative chaos? Who’s to say.) It gets the idea machine turning—or just adds to the 100 tabs permanently open in my brain.

Before most people have even hit snooze on their alarms, I’ve already pieced together a rough schedule for the day. Not saying I’ll actually stick to it. Working from home means every day looks a little different. Some days are wild, others a slow meander through To-Do Town.

Off to the shop. If it’s cold, I throw on my snow pants and trudge out to fire up the pellet stove. Sometimes I skip the pants. (Yes, that sounds wrong. No, I won’t rephrase.) I just freeze my arse off. If it’s hot? Hello, AC. My laser—her name is Eleanor, because of course she has a name—is picky about the temperature. Eleanor prefers things juuuust right, and it’s basically all about her in the shop. Diva.

📣 That’s All for Now—But More’s Coming!

Because technically, I’m supposed to be working right now. Wait. This is working. I digress.

Anyway—consider this your cliffhanger. Maybe next time you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I take an idea and bring it to life. Maybe even a video. Maybe a breakdown of laser drama with Eleanor. Who knows?
